IT’S CHOCOLATE COVERED CHERRY DAY!
This is the first challenge item of the year that we’ve decided to make at home, but it won’t be the last! Much like the cherries themselves, this one will be short and sweet.
Back in 2009, SP and the SPamily took a trip to the San Francisco Bay Area and decided to get a tour of the (since relocated) Scharffen-Berger Chocolate factory. It’s small-batch chocolate with high cocoa solid content and Julia Child once said it was the best chocolate in the United States, so it seemed an excellent candidate for our cherry-dipping.
Luckily it was a pretty simple process. We microwaved some Scharffen-Berger baking chocolate, washed some cherries, and put it all together while we waited for dinner to finish cooking. Cherry, meet chocolate.
At Target today we also happened upon some cherry cordials in the Christmas clearance for like 90 cents or something.
Surprise, ours were better! The cordials were way too sweet and kind of gross and medicine-y, so we threw them away after we’d each tried one. Not something either of us ever would have done in the past! Fat people victory!
Have yourself some chocolate cherries. Tomorrow: Spaghetti Day.
