[FHCx350] National Cupcake Day

THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY?!

IT’S NATIONAL CUPCAKE DAY!

As if cake wasn’t good enough, you can put it in a little paper wrapper, and then use about 20x as much frosting as would normally go on a slice of cake. And we’ve had our share of cupcakes this year. As we’ve previously done chocolate cupcake day and vanilla cupcake day, today was sort of a compromise: cookies ‘n cream!

Because why have a cupcake if it doesn’t have some sort of chocolate?

Tomorrow is National Chocolate Covered Anything Day.

[FHCx315] National Vanilla Cupcake Day

IT’S NATIONAL VANILLA CUPCAKE DAY!

We honestly would never pick out a vanilla cupcake if left to our own devices. Not that we don’t like vanilla flavors, it’s just… there are usually more exciting kinds of cupcakes to have.

But can we take a sec to give Target some major rep? Super Targets are already amazing, but they’re really starting to nail it in their bakery. Today was no exclusion. Thanks, Target, for having some real deal tasties.

[FHCx292] National Chocolate Cupcake Day

I’ll have both please.

TODAY IS NATIONAL CHOCOLATE CUPCAKE DAY!

What kind of cupcakes aren’t chocolate? I’m sure they’re good, because they’re cupcakes. But they aren’t chocolate.

Some people defame the cupcake because it isn’t just cake. Some people are uber-hipster and don’t even like the resurgence of cupcakes as a trend because they’re beyond it. If it’s tasty, we’ll eat it. And Lund’s & Byerly’s always has a selection to ogle.

ALL THE CUPCAKES!

We picked out a dirt ‘n worms cupcake.

You’re right, it doesn’t look like much cake made it into this “cupcake.” But it was a lot of chocolate and it was really good.

Tomorrow is Seafood Bisque Day!

[FHCx45] National Cream-Filled Chocolates Day

Valentine’s greetings to you all! But, more importantly,

IT’S CREAM-FILLED CHOCOLATES DAY!

Whose idea was it to insert cow-secretion byproduct into chocolate? Probably the French. For that, we thank them.

Godiva has a monthly free chocolate thing if you join their (also free) rewards program. Once a month, on some weekend when we’re walking around in the mall (which is basically all weekends), we’ll roll up to Godiva and split one of their decadent truffles between the two of us. Since this is a pretty regular thing, we thought it would be cool to try something else on this Cream-Filled Chocolates Day. Plus, if we want to be purists about this, none of Godiva’s chocolates are filled with “basic” cream filling.

While at the grocery store, we saw a man with a chef hat and a chocolate fountain. He had our attention. Turns out he’s the owner of a local confectionery company called Creative Confectionaire, and he was giving out *gaaaaaaaaaasp* SAMPLES! Even though we had already decided against Godiva truffles, we got some of his. Local stuff is cool.

In a cute little heart box, no less. The pack of 4 was on sale! One is missing because we ate it.

On to the main event. Some would say we cheated on this one because it is “chocolate” rather than “chocolates” but WHATEVER. Also at the grocery store, we spotted this beauty. She called to us from the case. She said… “Lo, I am filled with cream!”

“Creeeeeeaaaaaam!”

2016-02-14 10.44.42

“CREEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMM!!!!”

We heeded the call. Plus, there were heart sprinkles, and we are consumer whores.

You might have a couple questions. One question may be, “did you share that cupcake?” and the answer is yes. We also shared the truffles. The other answer to the question you’re not actually asking is “Yes, we ate a cupcake and chocolate truffles for breakfast.”

We forgot to add weigh-in day stuff to yesterday’s post, so here it is:
